The cool buttons you put at the bottom of every page to help viewers get to the next thing – do they use them? Or not? I don’t really have many buttons taking people all over the place, my images are clickable though. The only buttons I have are in my profile where my resume and contact buttons are, and they don’t really go anywhere, but in my finalized version, I’d have them go to their respective location. We’re just pretending they do now.
Do you see your viewer reaching or searching for some sort of button or content that isn’t there? I feel like I included everything, even if it looks a little basic. I don’t think my friends were looking for anything specific, they were probably expecting to find more personality, which I regret I haven’t worked on, but I might try adding a bit of decorations here and there if I have time.
Does your viewer try to click on things that don’t click? No, I think my pages are pretty simple, and I don’t have anything unnecessary on them. I don't think any clickable-looking things aren’t, and the clickable ones prompt the viewer to click if they want to with a little hover animation. My friends didn’t have trouble with that.
Can they figure out how to see the image larger or visit a detail page? Or do they need help? No, from what I noticed, anything that can be enlarged, gives a hint that it can. I added a small hover animation that prompts viewers to click. I’m unsure if that is the best way to do it, but I couldn’t figure out a different way to do it. Would I have liked a scroll? A feature where one can just click arrows to see zoomed-in versions in my work, but I am unsure of how to do it. But yes, they figured out how to see a detail picture when interested.
What about your site structure seems to make it easy for your viewers to get around? Things that make it easy are having a pretty simple layout with not much else to look at. If I had time, I would personalize it more and give it the whimsy that I carry myself with IRL, but for now, it is just a simplified version. Though, I did give an update to my page’s appearance, and I like it better now.
What about your site organization confuses or makes it hard for your viewers to get around? I think my contact page was a bit confusing since it didn’t have any text, just a contact form. I might add something else to it, like social media buttons, or like what we talked about in class with having both my contact info straight up along with the contact form. Also, I had two buttons that didn’t go anywhere (because I don’t have an updated resume), and I am unsure if I will add one. I might add a mock-up.
Content
Where does your viewer spend the most time? The least time? My viewers spent the most time looking at my work, and then somewhat reading my text. My captions aren’t as captivating and a little repetitive, so I will revise those when I have time.
Do they look at all your work? Or only some? Or only the main page? Both my sister and friends wanted to watch all/most of my animations, I think videos just catch people’s attention more than still images. My friends and my sister were curious enough to click through all of the navigation bars, just to see what I’ve done under them.
Do they look at your About statement? Do they read it? All of it? My friends read it all, I think, it wasn’t that big of a read, and I changed the look of it to seem more appealing with a white background. My sister kind of skimmed over it.
Is there work your viewer seems especially interested in? Or less interested in? They are most definitely interested in playing the animation videos the most, my friends probably watched all of them back to back. I am unsure if a professional would, though. I think my friends/ sister just watched them because they know me. The ones they just briefly hovered on are my storyboards, especially the ones that aren’t organized in boxes, which I will keep in mind for the future. I am just used to making even rougher/simpler versions of storyboards, but I can change my ways if they are easier to understand when organized in the typical storyboard fashion.
Can they find detailed views? Do you have them? Yes, they can find them easily by clicking on the images. I am unsure if this is the best way to do it, I could not find a way to give it a pop-up. If that’s what it’s called. Clicking the images just takes you to another tab where the image is enlarged, if I find a way to embed it in the actual site, I think that is better, and I will change it. My viewers were a little surprised by the sudden new tab popping up. At least it doesn’t start up a download? Haha.
Do they want to know more about projects? Do you have explanatory text? My sister, with her short attention span, didn’t really care for reading after the first couple of captions. My friends, however, hovered a little more on the captions. I think I should add a little more to them? They are a little short, but repetitive. I may edit them to have something a little more unique.
